To make the interior of a private house or apartment often use decorative elements made by yourself. In this review, we will tell you how to make a beautiful vintage table lamp from gypsum plaster and a piece of wood.
First of all, it will be necessary to make a base for the lamp. In this case, it is a gypsum cube. Sizes may be different (at your discretion). To fill the gypsum mixture, you will need to make a mold. The author uses pieces of laminated particleboard for this.
After sawing pieces of chipboard, we collect from them a box, tighten with a clamp and fasten it with self-tapping screws. Then fasten the bottom. The joints can be sealed with masking tape so that the solution does not leak, or "corked" with hot-melt adhesive.
The main stages of work
Next, you will need to glue a piece of wood into the corner of the form. In order to keep it in a cast, the author screws two self-tapping screws into it. A piece of polypropylene pipe is inserted in the middle (the diameter should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bulb holder).
At the next stage of the work, the author kneads a liquid gypsum solution and fills the prepared form. Instead of gypsum, cement with sand can also be used.
After the solution has hardened, it remains only to disassemble the form and treat the base of the lamp with sandpaper, smoothing sharp corners. Then, a bulb holder is inserted into the hole - it can be fixed in the "socket" using hot-melt adhesive. Then a light bulb is screwed.
