Direct spike connection, which is often used when assembling boxes, although it is considered quite simple, is characterized by a "capricious disposition". In this case, it is extremely important to observe accuracy.

Therefore, it is obvious that it is very problematic to make a quality thorn-groove joint by hand. It is better to use a milling cutter and a homemade device - a jig for box connections.

A simple home-made device that can be made from improvised materials ensures accurate manufacturing of spikes and grooves for box joints, and also speeds up the work process.

The main stages of work

A home-made conductor consists of two main parts: the base (it can be made from pieces of plywood or MDF), which is attached to the milling table with clamps, and movable slides with emphasis.

First of all, it is necessary to saw on the circular saw the blanks that will be used in the manufacturing process of the conductor. Then, the emphasis will need to be glued to the base (on one side) - the author uses the MDF strip.

Next, you need to make the second part of the jig - movable slide. So that they easily glide along the base, it is advisable to make a gap. For example, you can insert a strip of paper.

At the last stage of work, it remains only to make a groove in the emphasis on the slide and install the pin stop from a piece of plywood of square cross section.
