If in the process of work you have to face the need to drill holes for dowels strictly in the middle of the workpiece, then to save time, you can use a homemade device.

In this review, the author suggests making a do-it-yourself simple center finder with a conductor for drilling holes in wooden blanks for dowels from available improvised materials.

In this case, the master uses trimmed composite material (plastic with aluminum), bars of wood and tubes from a radiator of different diameters. The author found all the materials in his workshop, so the homemade product is absolutely budgetary.

The main stages of work

The next step is to cut the size of a wooden block. Then you need to find the center and drill holes of different diameters (for the diameter of the bushings from the radiator tubes). The master drills the holes in the bar on a drilling machine.

After that, sleeves of the required length are cut from the tubes and pressed into the holes. Next, you need to cut off two more wooden blocks and two pieces of composite material. Now you can start assembling the device.

If possible, instead of tubes from the radiator, it is better to use bearings with the desired inner diameter - the device will last longer. But instead of self-tapping screws with a press washer, it is better to use bolts with grovers. And what do you think?
