Using inexpensive materials at hand and a 12-volt DC motor, you can make a powerful miniature "version" of a miter saw. However, this is not a toy, but quite a working tool with which you can cut bars, slats and planks from wood at an angle of 90 degrees. Due to its compact size, such a mini miter saw does not take up much space.

A 12 V electric motor is used as the drive, and the rest of the components are made from improvised materials that can be found in any workshop: plastic pipe cut-offs, an aluminum profile of rectangular or square section, a spring, a piece of MDF sheet, a small saw blade (it can be ordered on the Internet), as well as fasteners.

The process of making a mini miter saw

From a sheet of MDF (you can also use plywood with a thickness of 6 mm), we cut a circle with a diameter of 8 mm with a jigsaw. Then, from a polypropylene pipe, we cut four segments at an angle of 45 degrees, which must be filed and glued to the base of the cut circle. Under the working surface we also fasten a wooden block, one side of which is sawn at an angle of 25 degrees.

We cut off two identical pieces from the square aluminum profile, in which we drill holes, and then we fix the vertical posts to the wooden block under the base of the mini miter saw. From a long section of aluminum tube we make a lever, to the end of which you need to glue a piece of polypropylene pipe for a more comfortable grip, and fasten it with screws to the vertical posts.

At the last stage of work, we attach to the handle of the miter saw an electric motor and a saw blade with a diameter of 4 inches (110 mm) with thirty teeth, and also install a spring for quick return of the lever to its original position. We solder the plug connector for the power supply and the miter saw is ready for use.
