If you need to fasten wooden boards or bars close to each other, while the fasteners should be as hidden as possible (for aesthetic reasons), be sure to make yourself this simple and useful device. This homemade handy in any carpentry workshop.
Using a homemade template, you can drill holes in the board for self-tapping screws. The holes can be "masked" with ordinary wood putty or left as is. In any case, the connection will turn out to be much more accurate than simply knocking boards "the old fashioned way" - nails diagonally.
To make this template, you will need a minimum of materials: a wooden bar 4.5x4 cm 8 cm long, as well as two metal tubes (preferably made of stainless steel) with an inner diameter of 8 mm (outer - 10 mm).
Template manufacturing process
In the end part of the wooden block, two through holes must be drilled with a 10 mm drill. Then we cut two tubes 8 cm long and completely hammer them into the drilled holes. Next, you need to cut the bar into two parts at an angle of 75 degrees.
To do this, we will use an electric jigsaw and a metal saw (since there are steel tubes inside the bar). At the top of the template, cut out a pad under the clamp so that you can press it against the board. Then we grind the inside and outside of the fixture.
Using this device is very simple - we install the template in the right place on the board, then we insert an 8 mm drill into the tube and drill a hole.
