To harvest fallen leaves and dry grass in a summer cottage or a house adjoining territory, a rake is usually used.
In this review, the author offers an unusual alternative to standard garden rakes - these are homemade fan rakes that are worn on hands.
According to the author, to remove foliage and grass with both hands at the same time is much faster and more convenient.
For the manufacture of "manual" fan rakes will require metal bars and pieces of reinforcement. You will also need to make two wooden handles.
The main stages of work
First of all, it will be necessary to cut ten blanks from a round bar, each 33 cm long. Five segments are needed for one “paw”.
At the next stage, the end of each workpiece must be bent at an angle of about 45 degrees (as on a conventional fan rake).
Further, the master makes two U-shaped blanks from pieces of reinforcement. Then they need to weld one jumper from the fittings and prepared steel bars.
On the sides, the author welds "ears" with holes that are made of pieces of a metal plate. The resulting "rake paws" need to be cleaned and painted.
At the last stage, it remains only to fix the round wooden handles and wrist straps. The straps can be made of leather, dense fabric or other material found in the workshop.
