Grinding whetstone - a necessary thing in any workshop or men's "kennel" (garage). Often, many simply feel sorry for the money for such a simple and at the same time functional thing. However, the manufacturing process of this little thing in a home workshop does not take much time.
To create this device you will need a small piece of PCB (you can also take, for example, plywood), a piece of coarse rubber, an aluminum square tube, a couple of bolts and wing nuts, an old handle from the cabinet.
First you need to mark and select the grooves from the two edges of the piece of PCB, about one quarter of the entire depth. Then in the center we select a small groove to secure the handle from the cabinet.
We drill two holes in the grooves, and from the reverse side we countersink holes to slightly drown the caps of the bolts. Thus, the surface of the PCB will be flat, without bulges.
The main stages of work
We clean the edges and ends of the cut out grooves with a file. In this case, it is necessary to observe safety measures during the processing of PCB (use a respirator and safety glasses).
The next step is to install the bolts in the holes and fill them with superglue (for preliminary fixing). Glue the handle also on superglue. Fill the holes with epoxy resin and leave to dry completely.
We clean the surface for further gluing a piece of rubber. Glue it on epoxy glue. After complete solidification, we cut off the excess edges with a hacksaw (rubber and epoxy are very durable for a regular knife).
We collect the bar. A piece of the grinding mesh is cut to the size of the bar with a margin of several centimeters. We put a mesh in the groove and clamp on one and the other side of the segment of the square tube, with pre-made holes for the screws.
Then tighten the wing nuts. Homemade whetstone for grinding is ready. A detailed manufacturing process can be seen in the video below.
